Guitar-driven and melody-powered, the newest song by Australian singer-songwriter Able Joseph is simply magnificent. The gentle indie-pop track is called “Lonely LA” and was produced by Grant Konemann and released on Sydney-based indie label Double Drummer.
“Lonely LA” is a mid-tempo and heartfelt piece telling an intimate story about changing lives and circumstance. Joseph says, “There’s a beautiful side to two people having to adjust to life’s curveballs and facing change as a team — be that changing dreams, homes, realities… this isn’t a love song, it’s a relationship song.”

Punk twin duo The Garden performed to a sold out crowd in Brooklyn.
On the eve of Thanksgiving, 11/24, California based experimental punk duo The Garden played a sold out show to a thrilled crowd at Warsaw. Many members of the audience could be seen sporting clown face-paint––a signature look of the twin duo. A highlight of the show included witnessing the band getting bananas tossed at them (don’t worry, they loved it.) After the set, AdHoc asked The Garden if this was a common occurrence for them, and they said tonight was the first time that had happened, but they’d been asking crowds to do it for a while. The band was also joined by punk band Dr. Know, who delivered an exciting opening performance.
The Garden, being known for their unique sound and playful use of samples, provided just that throughout their live set in Brooklyn. Their set also featured many tracks from their last full LP, Kiss My Superbowl Ring (which was released on Epitaph in 2020) as well as a new unreleased track.
Photos were taken by AdHoc’s own Steph Rinzler, check them out below.
Escape to the country with the rural poetry in Elin Grace’s latest quirky jazz-infused piano pop single, Breathe. With the same ephemeral grace of The Anchoress paired with her own celestially graceful beguile, the lullaby-esque single that artfully and unexpectedly entices you into meditation after a confessional outpour of emotion is a flawless triumph.
The mid-Wales-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, who has mastered the piano, saxophone, cello, and ukulele, has been lauded by the likes of Adam Walton from BBC Radio Wales and has seen her music commissioned for London Fashion Week. Clearly, Elin Grace has a promising future ahead. She’s one of a kind, yet drinking in the tranquil sophistication of her melodies is, ironically, as easy as breathing.
It’s been a minute two years since we’ve heard from RJ, but the LA rapper is on the move again with the release of his new album, Rodney Brown Jr.
Equipped with 20 tracks, the project has features from Ty Dolla $ign, G Perico, Roddy Ricch, O.T. Genesis, Symba, and a few others.
To celebrate the release, RJ stopped by Power 106 to take part in the LA Leakers’ ongoing freestyle series. And with six minutes on the clock, he got busy over an original beat before going a cappella.
Press play and be sure to add Rodney Brown Jr wherever you get music.

For what feels like years, Noel Gallagher has been teasing an album of new music. Now, it could finally be upon us.
Gallagher, originally of Oasis and now of High Flying Birds fame, recently shared a cryptic teaser on his Instagram. Simply flashing with a date, “31.10.22,” and captioned “8.30AM (GMT),” the post is rife with things to come.
News of new music began to circulate in late 2020 when the singer was quoted by the British tabloid, the Daily Star, saying he had written a new song that he likened to The Cure.
The outlet quoted him as saying (sourced by music-news.com), “The stuff I’ve been working on is fucking great, really great … I’ve written a tune that sounds very much like The Cure, and I didn’t even have to dial back the copyright, it just sounds like The Cure. It’s called ‘Pretty Boy.’” He was also quoted in the summer of this year, detailing his new material as sounding “Bowie-esque” and “[Rolling] Stones-y” by the same outlet.
Gallagher welcomed 2022 by sharing a demo of a new track, titled “Trying To Find A World That’s Been And Gone: Part 1” on Jan. 1.
With the release, he wrote to fans on Twitter, detailing progress on the album. “So we didn’t actually get there in the end, did we? I finished writing/demoing the next NGHFB album about 10 days ago,” he wrote. “Thought you might wanna hear this little piece which – like last year’s offering – sounds quite appropriate for this New Year’s Day. Hope you had THE BEST night (as much as was allowed anyway) and hopefully, we’ll catch up somewhere in the summer. ONWARDS. NG.”
In June 2021, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds released their first greatest hits album, Back the Way We Came: Vol. 1 (2011–2021), but a new album would be the band’s first in five years, following-up their 2017 release, Who Built The Moon?
Check out the previously dropped demo while we await further news.
Loren Aronov is one of the pop newcomers on our radar. The 14-year-old, Toronto-raised singer-songwriter has, so far, released two songs.
Last year’s “Too Soon To Say Goodbye” recently received a followup; that new track is called “Uncool”.
On “Uncool”, Loren sings about the feeling of being the odd one out among her peers at school. Understandably, this can be devastating to a teenager but she’s learned to accept her unique qualities and is using such personal obstacles to fuel her music.
Listen to “Uncool” and follow Loren Aronov on Instagram.
Wet Leg’s iconic NYCdebut at Union Pool and Baby’s All Right.
This week, UK duo Wet Leg played three sold out shows––two of them AdHoc shows––including Wednesday, 12/8 at Union Pool and Thursday, 12/9 at Baby’s All Right. The crowd at both shows were very enthusiastic, jumping, dancing and singing particularly loud along to “Wet Dream” and “Chaise Longue” (the two lead singles that band has put out so far.) Both shows were opened by LA-based band Momma, who also brought a highly energetic and entertaining set.
Wet Leg’s self-titled debut album Wet Leg is scheduled to be released 4/8 via Domino. The band, led by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, brought a real sense of excitement and fun to the stage, which makes us look forward even more to what their career has in store.
The lovely and talented Qbertplaya took photos on behalf of AdHoc at both shows. Check them out below.

The Philly-based alt-rock innovators, Nothing but a Nightmare notably sharpened their pop-punk hooks for their third studio album, The Salvation, which features the playfully protestive single, She Always Ruins a Good Time. If any single could take down the boss-level Karens out there that seem to be becoming increasingly prolific, it’s this riotous earworm, which comes complete with frenetically witty verses and choruses that will absolutely consume you in their euphoric pit-worthy energy.
With hints of Fallout Boy and Panic at the Disco woven into the sticky-sweet 00-Esque tapestry, Nothing but a Nightmare delivered a smorgasbord of modernised nostalgia that proves that there’s never any really growing out of an emo phase.
The Salvation officially released on October 14th across all major platforms; check it out here.
Meet Marco Plus, a talented rapper from Atlanta who’s making his DopeHouse debut with the release of his new album, Tha Soufside Villain.
Although my Braves just took an L and got knocked out the playoffs, ATL is still on the rise with talent like this bubbling on the scene. During a search for some new talent, I came across Marco Plus after JID said he’s up next. And after one listen to the album, I’ve gotta say, he might be right.
Through a span of 14 tracks, Marco – who is repping Cinematic Music Group (what up Shipes?!) – proceeds to attack each record with a raw and focused delivery that never lets up, leaving you fully engaged from start to finish. While he has no issue handling a song on his own, Marco still invites the likes of Kenny Mason, Grip, Deanté Hitchcock, Jiggs, and a few others to come through and provide some outside perspective.
Press play and be sure to add Tha Soufside Villain LP wherever you get music.
