David Warner rules fans’ hearts with his highly entertaining videos on social media. The Australian cricketer often takes the masses on a laugh riot by sharing rib-tickling videos of his face swapped with Indian film stars, especially Tollywood celebrities, in some popular songs. And, this time around, David caught the attention of many after he edited his face on Rashimika Mandanna’s face in a popular Telugu song.

On Monday, David Warner posted a video clip of Rashmika’s song Whattey Beauty from the film Bheeshma with a hilarious twist. He swapped his face with the actress’s face in the video, which left the internet in splits. Along with posting the video, he wrote, “sooooo sorry for this one.”

Well, this is not the first time that David Warner has shared a funny edited video of himself dancing to the tunes of Telugu songs. About a month ago, he posted an edited video of himself dancing to Butta Bomma, which starred Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde. David also grooved to Guru Randhawa’s popular Punjabi song Slowly Slowly in one of his other videos, which had also gone viral on social media. The 33-year-old is a Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) player in the Indian Premier League (IPL). As a result, he is well aware of Telugu songs as well as actors.

On the other hand, Rashmika Mandanna recently made her Bollywood debut in Goodbye, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Neena Gupta. The film, directed by Vikas Bahl, also featured Pavail Gulati, Elli AvrRam, Sunil Grover, and Sahil Mehta in key roles. Its plot revolved around self-discovery, the value of family, and the celebration of life in all circumstances. Goodbye, produced by Ekta Kapoor, was released in theatres on October 7, 2022, and it didn’t manage to rake in good numbers at the box office.

If you’re bumping Lady Gaga at home there is a chance nearby rats (especially in Chicago and New York) are bopping along too.

That’s right! Just like many humans, rats are proven Little Monsters too.

Researchers studied the response of rats to pop music. According to a University of Tokyo study, which has been published in Science Advances, a peer-reviewed journal, rats can indicate and dance along to the beat of a rhythm, USA Today reported.

Researchers played not only Mozart and Gaga’s “Born This Way,” but iconic songs Maroon 5′s “Sugar,” Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” and Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” for the rats. Their head movements were measured and the results were compared to humans also in the study.

According to USA Today, the music was played at four different tempos. The news release said animals can be trained to move, but rats reportedly have an “innate” ability to jam.

“Rats displayed innate — that is, without any training or prior exposure to music — beat synchronization most distinctly within 120-140 bpm (beats per minute), to which humans also exhibit the clearest beat synchronization,” said Hirokazu Takahashi, an associate Professor in the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology at University of Tokyo, in the news release. “The auditory cortex, the region of our brain that processes sound, was also tuned to 120-140 bpm, which we were able to explain using our mathematical model of brain adaptation.”

“Music exerts a strong appeal to the brain and has profound effects on emotion and cognition. To utilize music effectively, we need to reveal the neural mechanism underlying this empirical fact,” added Takahashi. “I am also a specialist of electrophysiology, which is concerned with electrical activity in the brain, and have been studying the auditory cortex of rats for many years.”

Lalisa “Lisa” Manoban of girl group Blackpink won the award for best K-pop artist at MTV’s Europe Music Awards in Dusseldorf, Germany, on Sunday.

The Thai-born star was announced the winner over other candidates — BTS, Itzy, Seventeen, Twice and Blackpink.

It was her second MTV prize after winning the same category at MTV’s US awards show in September.

Blackpink won the best “metaverse performance” award.

Lisa said she and other band members are eagerly waiting to see their  “Blink” fans on the Born Pink Tour.

The world tour will come to Bangkok on Jan 7-8 next year at Supachalasai Stadium. Tickets will be on sale on Wednesday.

US singer and songwriter Taylor Swift won the most awards at the event.

Old people complaining about “the music these days” is a trope for a reason: it’s been happening for as long as music has been on the radio.

The fact is, the music we fall in love with as teenagers stays with us for the rest of our lives. A New York Times analysis of Spotify data found that the most influential age for one’s musical taste is 13 for women and 14 for men. At that formative moment, music just means more: Each of those songs becomes linked with events that feel monumental (First dance! First kiss! First beer! First love!). Just as fascinating are the songs that don’t affect listeners who weren’t just the right age when they hit the radio waves. According to the study, if you were an 11-year-old girl when The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven” was released, you stream it all the time. But if you were older than 20 or younger than 5 at the time? It’s just “meh.”

Pop music is about a time, a place, and what a song or a band can mean to a generation of listeners. Because of that, it can be anything from an orchestral movie theme to a remix of a Spanish-language hit to a folk harmony to a Dolly Parton cover. What makes it pop is that it speaks to young people of the day. And because those are the songs that stay with us, pop music becomes a shared language for a generation.

In my further quest for owning all Matt Nathanson items listed on Discogs, I found another gem. This Promo CD is for the song “Suspended” off his 2003 album and major label debut called ‘Beneath these Fireworks’. The song didn’t chart, no surprise as he’s never been a big radio hits guy (even though his stuff is better than radio). The album didn’t do well either and shortly after releasing his first major label debut on Universal, Universal dropped him. Such is the story of so many artists and bands.

The song was written by Matt Nathanson, Mark Weinberg and Eric Bazillion who you know as a founding member of the band The Hooters. The song is about being in a relationship that might not be the best relationship, but man, the sex is so good you are willing to accept anything to stay in it. You suspend belief and think that is all is great just to stay for sex despite how lost and miserable you might be. Better for some human contact than nothing at all. Now, that is one way to look at it, the other is that he is fully committed and in love, but she’s not quite there. The line, “When you pretend that I’m all that you waited for”, shows that he knows she’s not in to it anymore, just pretending. But he’s okay…he loves her and wants to stay and be together.

Either way, it is very sad really, but crafted in to a beautiful song.

The song is rather generic sounding, very poppy, and upbeat song. Musically, the sounds contradict the sadness in the lyrics. The thing that sucks you in is Matts interpretations of his lyrics. His delivery and vocals are the draw as they are both haunting at times and still smooth, slick and beautiful. He has a way of drawing you in and getting lost in the song.

“Six” is a complex, subversive and biting takedown of the modern music industry, the ongoing ignorance of the roles women play in history, and the destructive legacy of the patriarchy.

It’s also a love letter to modern pop.

The Broadway musical “Six,” which runs through Dec. 31 at the Emerson Colonial Theatre, puts the story of Henry VIII’s wives on stage. The queens, often reduced to the grim rhyme “divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived,” become pop stars competing against each other on a sort of dystopian “American Idol.” It’s wickedly funny, very dark, incredibly smart, and shot through with gloriously bouncy and bright pop music.

“Sometimes some of the themes in the show hit me hard on particular days,” Gabriela Carrillo told the Herald – Carrillo plays Catherine Parr, the wife that survived. “Sometimes I hear a line in a new way and I have to be careful not to completely break down and cry.”

Carrillo’s Parr plays a unique role in the show. She questions why the women need to compete with each for the audience’s attention.

“I love playing this role,” Carrillo said. “I go on such a major journey through the show that I think surprises the audience, surprises Catherine Parr as a character.”

The role, and all of “Six,” seem tailor made for Carrillo.

A Berklee-alum, Carrillo spent most of her teen years in love with pop. Musical theater sat firmly in the background, while writing and singing songs aimed at the Top 40 dominated her life. And “Six” is as much a contemporary pop tribute as it is a Broadway show. The historical queens channel music queens from Adele to Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj to Miley Cyrus – fans of Lily Allen’s “Sheezus” must see “Six.”

“You almost forget that you are doing a theater production,” Carrillo said. “I feel like I get to tap into all sorts of pop diva archetypes that live within me during the show and that is so fulfilling and so fun. If I was in a more traditional show, that pop side of me would have to come out in another way. I’d have to do some of my own live shows or maybe I would just have it screaming inside of me to get out.”

The performances have the energy of Dua Lipa at the Garden. The songs are as tight as a Carly Rae Jepsen jam. But this is still a musical – which a narrative arc a concert or album doesn’t offer.

The characters bicker and snipe through this dark story and glittering spectacle, but Carrillo sees the show’s moral through the bitter parody.

“A message of ‘Six’ is not to be threatened by those who can lift you up,” she said.
