GloRilla Drops “Internet Trolls” Single

After a relatively successful (mildly speaking) and breakout 2022, GloRilla offers her first solo track of 2023 with “Internet Trolls.”

“You know me as a person, I make songs off what I go through or the stuff I see going on, and it’s just a lot of internet trolls. People, they don’t leave their house. They don’t get off their phone. They don’t go outside and see what the real world got to offer,” Glo said to Eddie Francis on New Music Daily on Apple Music 1 of the song. “This the song, to let people really know it’s a world outside of the internet. You know what I’m saying? Go explore it. So much fun.”

She also released a video for the song, as well.

Matilde G reveals “Hypocrite” single & video – Aipate

Italian-born Singapore-based teenage star Matilde G released a new single last Friday. The 17-year-old singer named this one “Hypocrite”. It is an upbeat and anthemic electro pop track which she paired with a brilliantly shot video.

“Hypocrite” finds a vexed Matilde yelling out her frustrations while still showing some understanding towards an ex.

She explains, “I wasn’t respected and treated correctly, I started wondering if I was doing something wrong, I felt bad because I didn’t know why I deserved to be treated like this by boys. That’s when it hit me. I’m not the problem, if these people aren’t happy with themselves they can make you happy. I realised that other people’s actions don’t define who I am, only me and my actions define who I am. In response to that I came out of this situation stronger then ever, ready to live my life at its fullest, knowing that I’m not the wrong one, but these hypocritical people that are all talk and no actions are.”

Matilde wrote this song in Stockholm, Sweden together with Isak Alvendahl, Karl-Oskar Gummesson and Josefin Glenmark.

23-Year-Old Music Producer From Cape Cod Nominated for 2 Grammy Awards – NBC Boston

Born and raised in Cape Cod, Hunter Brown has received two nominations for this weekends Grammy awards. They’re both songs he produced on two separate albums, in the “Best Rap Album” category.

“I didn’t really know it was possible to be Grammy-nominated from Cape Cod, because I never had an example to look up to,” said Brown, whose stage name is Akachi.

The 23-year-old is navigating a career in hip hop from a place not recognized for its talented hip hop musicians.

“Where I come from on Cape Cod, I have no connections,” Brown said. “There’s no real way into the industry, so another big piece of grinding was meeting people from Atlanta, Chicago, meeting people from LA.”

Brown co-produces beats with local musicians from different backgrounds, like Ben Shields from Norwood.

“Over the pandemic, I spent a lot of time trying to master my craft on the ukulele. That process of incorporating the ukulele into hip hop beats turned into so many other experimental things we ended up doing that turned into our greatest hits,” said Shields. “It’s really important to create a scene here that people across the country, across the world, can recognize.”

Brown says that he has no expectations when the awards take place on Sunday, but that a Grammy win would be a dream come true.

“It’s going to make me go harder. I think if I win, I won’t really think anything is impossible,” said Brown.

Chelsea Silva delivered the ultimate exposition on tentative anxiety with her canderous alt-indie-pop single, frontline – Independent Music – New Music

After the Australian alt-pop singer-songwriter, Chelsea Silva ensnared us with her devilishly quirky 2022 single, Hades Has a Daughter, she’s shown us an equally disarming new side to her cogent talent with ‘frontline’.

With 70s folk pop tones behind her soft indie pop vocals in the intro which build into scintillating reminiscences to the likes of Lorde while sharing the same command of dark and gothic vocal ranges as Evanescent and Nightwish while never losing the stylish pop edges, frontline is definitively a triumph.

Silva set the lyrical bar high with her former releases. She transcended it with elevated grace in frontline. Exuding a tentative sense of disquiet uncertainty that grips us all while we attempt to work around anxiety and the landmines that our disparate society leaves us, only a sociopath would fail to get on the same page as Silva and resonate with every soul-shivering line.

Frontline will officially release on January 31st. Hear it on Spotify.

Reuben Vincent Drops “Trickin” Video

Recently dropping his debut album, Love Is War, Roc Nation/Jamla signee Reuben Vincent shares the latest visual from the project in “Trickin.”

“I worked on Love Is War for two years. Conceptually, Love Is War is an acknowledgment that as young black men, I feel like we aren’t taught, and given the tools of how to love properly. We don’t know how to love our people, our women, our brothers; and most importantly ourselves,” Reuben says. “My goal is to love myself properly, and that comes with exploration (internally and externally). That is why I titled the album, Love Is War, because it is a constant battle to get to that center in your life.  We all battle ourselves to get to a place where we can both love and be loved.”

Alongside Domani (and a quirky Katt Williams vocal sample), the video can be seen below.
