Home prices meet country music: Welcome to Nashville

Good morning, and welcome to your Daily Briefing! This is business editor Nicole Young.

Only in Nashville can we get away with comparing housing market trends to the chorus of Morgan Wallen’s hit song “Up Down.”

Maybe? You think?

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

The song certainly seems to fit the current market.

Growth and development reporter Melonee Hurt tells us home closings were down from last November. Home prices were up. Pending sales were down. Existing home inventory was up.

“Even though the housing market isn’t a character in a country drinking song, it does seem, well — drunk,” she writes.

Subscribers can read more here to learn what Greater Nashville Realtors President Steve Jolly says about the market, dig into the numbers and see what good news is in all of this.

Travis Japan on spreading their happy brand of music, competing on

Working hard and having fun are sometimes thought of as things that must come one after another, but as Travis Japan have demonstrated, it is very much possible to do both at the same time.

Whenever they are on stage, the Japanese boy band executes their choreographies with so much sharpness and focus that it is difficult to resist viewing their performances repeatedly. But even though the seven-piece outfit is always fully committed to giving their best, they will never be spotted without expressions of sheer joy on their faces.

“Having fun is the best way to keep our audience engaged. That’s our motto — having fun when we are on stage,” shared Noel.

Formed by and named after renowned American choreographer Travis Payne, who has collaborated with music icons such as Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga, the Johnny & Associates act has been — and will continue to be — held to high standards. But this year, an unfazed Travis Japan proved that they are destined for stardom as contestants on America’s Got Talent and as one of Japan’s representatives at YouTube Fanfest 10, where they performed their infectious debut single ‘JUST DANCE!’.

Ahead of their set YouTube Fanfest 10 in Singapore, Travis Japan — made up of Kaito “Chaka” Miyachika, Kaito “Umi” Nakamura, Ryuya “Shime” Shimekake, Noeru “Noel” Kawashima, Shizuya “Shizu” Yoshizawa, “Genta” Matsuda, and Kaito “Machu” Matsukura — spoke to Bandwagon about being ambassadors of J-pop, shared how they keep their audiences engaged, and demonstrated their go-to warm-up routines.

Hi, Travis Japan! What have been the biggest highlights of 2022 for you so far?

UMI: We released our new debut single ‘JUST DANCE!’ and then performed at AGT (America’s Got Talent) — [at the] competition [and] also the semi-finals. [Those were the] biggest highlights.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music?

CHAKA: We saw artists live in their concerts and shows [and] that was what inspired [our] work and dreams.

When you are on stage, how do you keep your audience engaged?

NOEL: That’s a really simple question. It’s just having fun. Having fun is the best way to keep our audience engaged. That’s our motto — having fun when we are on stage.

Of all of your performances which one(s) would you say are the most memorable?

MACHU: The most memorable was America’s Got Talent, the auditions. So that was a great opportunity and a great experience for us. And so we could realise our possibility and our “homework”. We are so glad because we got 3000 yeses [from the audience] as a result.

In your opinion, what are three qualities that every aspiring performer should have?

CHAKA: Having the confidence to perform. [You] need to [have] good expressions to entertain, dance, or sing. The second thing is being with the audience.  The last thing is what Noel said — enjoying [yourself]. You need to. The entertainment, the expressions, plus a happy mind.

J-pop is a genre that has been growing in popularity around the world. What do you think makes it unique? How does it feel to be one of its representatives?

NOEL: It’s a really difficult question. First of all, we want you to know that we are not sure what the definition of J-pop is. We love music and we love to dance and perform in front of audiences, and music is one of the ways to enjoy the moment. That’s why we perform and released our song. At the end of October, we released our new song, ‘JUST DANCE!’. We are going to release new songs in the future and we need to have confidence and we [will] have the responsibility of [representing] the J-pop genre. We are really looking forward to having our new song as [a piece of] J-pop to the world.

You have amassed a huge following over the years. What makes your relationship with your fans so special?

SHIZU: Our fans are like family. They’re very important to us. I think it’s special that we and all our fans think [this way] of each other.

How does it feel to be one of the performers at YouTube Fanfest 10?

GENTA: We are really honoured to be here and we will do our best to continue performing.

Lastly, what can we expect from Travis Japan in 2023 and beyond?

MACHU: We’re going to become bigger stars. And we hope to share a lot of our songs with everyone in the world. And also, we want to give everyone our performances, our wonderful music, and happiness.

NOEL: We want to share happiness!

Ché Aimee Dorval reveals “Loveless” video – Aipate

There is a new album by Canadian artist Ché Aimee Dorval that is scheduled for a January 19 release. The album is named The Crowned.

The song “Loveless” which was released together with a music video two weeks ago is part of that upcoming LP; it’s the third single.

“’Loveless’ is about giving your love over quickly and readily,” the Vancouver-based musician says. “Loving without the expectation of having it returned. I think it’s honourable to give over love easily to anyone, even with the dangers that can come from that. Maybe it’s not even a choice. Maybe you either acknowledge your love or you don’t, but it’s there either way. This song explores the feeling of being compelled to love a person who has nothing to give in return.

This new track follows Ché Aimee Dorval’s 2022 singles “Blood Red Son” and “Falling Under”.

East Bay Area Indie Record Label set to start 2023 off with a Bang.

I am very excited for New Years Day 2023…I may be biased but I truly believe the people want and need our music.” – The Five 1 HeroOAKLAND, CA, UNITED STATES, December 11, 2022 /einpresswire.com / — To say it has been an impressive first year for Bay Area Independent Record Label, fresh cut wax llc , is an understatement. Right out of the gate, the infant record label launched their first full length album, Renegades Worldwide, global domination , in early March, a powerful hip hop collective addressing everything from break ups, to the pandemic, to the War on Ukraine, and get this, there are 12 emcees on this album and no swearing, cussing, or potty talk, whatever you want to call it. Something truly unique in Hip Hop.

From there, we saw the five1hero come onto the scene with his breakout debut single ‘Summer in SoCal’, a laid-back boom bap track with a myriad of up-and-coming female vocalists. After the release of ‘Summer in SoCal’ we saw Fresh Cut Wax LLC., release a handful of singles from both brands, The Five1Hero and Renegades Worldwide, including the single for ‘On the Run’ from Renegades and ‘The Hit’ and ‘A Mi Lado’, a surprise down tempo song featuring the Jazzy Argentinian bombshell, Mica Franco with lyrics completely in Spanish.

Then in the Fall, Fresh Cut Wax came out with a huge announcement that NorCal rock band, Young Beard, was signing up and releasing some of their music with the label and creating a new album. With that came the final release of the year, Young Beards’ track The Big September remixed by the Five1Hero with a cameo from Renegade Worldwide rapper King Marino.

Today, The Five1Hero, President, CEO, and Executive Producer, of the label announced that each brand is releasing a full-length album on New Year’s Day 2023.

“I am very excited for New Years Day 2023. I feel like after that day I can really focus on blowing up the label and out brands of talent. I have been in producer mode for a couple years now and really need to get our products out there. I may be biased but I truly believe the people want and need our music.”

The first album is Young Beard’s full release of The Big September, including every track they have recorded, including the remix.
The second album is Renegades Worldwide’ Global Remixes, a remix album with a lot of EDM, Dub, & Dancehall influence.“Global Remixes is basically a brand-new album even though it is remixes from Global Domination. They are so different and unique, and the album flows together so well, I am really excited to see what people think.” Explains ‘Hero.

The third album is Five1Hero’s official 1st full length album entitled Sunday Brunch Playlist Volume 1 – The Blue Moon Café.“This album is a lot of my life in my later teens and 20’s when I was in the club and rave scenes quite a bit. I am very proud of this album. I think it pays tribute to my years in San Francisco and the music I love. I wanted it to have some hip hop but not e a hip hop album, but really show a lot more musical diversity. I think we hit the nail on the head.”

All 3 albums will be for sale digitally on all major platforms for just $5.99 each.“We really appreciate anyone who buys these albums. The way streaming services work it is almost impossible for an artist to make money these days, so we definitely appreciate the purchases!” says ‘Hero.

BLACKPINK is the K-pop group behind “How You Like That,” “As If It’s Your Last,” and “Kill This Love.” In 2022, they released Born Pink, complete with eight new songs for BLINKs to stream.

For one interview, the artists mentioned their current favorite songs from the collection. Here’s what Rosé, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo said.

Jisoo worked on Snowdrop. Jennie appeared in HBO’s upcoming series The Idol. Each performer appeared in fashion and cosmetics campaigns. Now, this K-pop group is in your area – with new original music.

In 2022, Rosé, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo released their second full-length album. That’s Born Pink, complete with title tracks “Shut Down” and “Pink Venom.” The collection became one of the year’s most popular albums, with BLINKs mentioning their favorite songs on social media.

The BLACKPINK members mentioned their favorite ‘Born Pink’ tracks

The BLACKPINK members explored new themes in this album, with eight new songs available to BLINKs. During their appearance on iHeartRadio, the artists were asked about their favorite Born Pink songs.

“Oh my god, that’s so hard,” Rosé said. “I really like ‘Tally,’ I like ‘Tally.’ That’s a good song — one of my favorite songs.”

This BLACKPINK song is about playing dirty, with the narrator describing how she doesn’t “play nice” even though that’s what’s expected. As of December 2022, “Tally” holds over 45 million Spotify plays.

“Mine is ‘Typa Girl,’” Lisa said while nodding her head. Jennie said, “Mine is ‘Shut Down.’”

“Shut Down” became one of the title tracks for the album, with the artists appearing in a corresponding music video. When they performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, this was the song they highlighted.

“‘Shut Down’ is a song that brings the charisma BLACKPINK has always been showing off to another level,” Jennie mentioned during their D-1 Interview. “The combination of classical music and hip hop gives off good impression which is new but also has addictive charms.”

“I think the fun lyrics with wit and the choreography that expresses ‘Shut Down’ directly will be a fun point,” she added. “I hope that feeling we felt first and the thrill of excitement gets delivered to everybody.”

Jisoo said her favorite was “Pink Venom,” rounding out her answer with the dance move from the lead single. This was the first track BLACKPINK released from this new era, as well as the song they performed on the MTV VMAs. Now, the track has over 325 million Spotify plays.

An inside look at the Sale Country Music Festival

PUTTING on a brand new event is always risky, especially after COVID, but a strong line-up saw crowds gathered to the Sale Turf Club for the inaugural Sale Country Music Festival on Saturday, November 19.

There’s no events without event-goers. But there’s also no events without event promoters. Owner and director of Event People Australia, Scott Hollow, said the Sale Country Music Festival was part of an event attraction program through Wellington Shire Council.

“It’s a three-year contract. It’s about getting out into different regional areas. So we’re thankful to the Council, plus the (Sale) Turf Club. It’s a good venue,” Mr Hollow said.

“The numbers are slightly down on what we hoped for, but there’s a lot of events going on. There’s a lot of promoters putting on events, so it’s busy after COVID.

“It’s a good base to build on. We’ll do a survey and get some feedback. And we’ll be here next year, same venue.”

The bill featured performances by Laurel and Phoebe, Ella & Sienna, Mick Harrington, Amber Lawrence, Casey Barnes, Travis Collins and Adam Brand. Dressed in their favourite country look, the crowd also enjoyed food trucks, beverages, and relaxing in their camping chairs.

Gary Turner, a radio journalist who took on the role of master of ceremonies, said the event was well-suited to Sale.

“Nice town, lovely venue, lovely racecourse here, lovely townspeople here. Great crowd,” he said.

“I think we (organised) a great line-up. You know country music is all about new talent coming in and with country music, you just don’t know what’s around the corner, because there’s new talent all the time.”

One of the talented new acts were South Australian teenagers Ella & Sienna.

Sienna said they were excited to play after releasing their latest single last month, called ‘The City in July’, which followed their previous charting song, ‘Saved’.

“The response we’ve received from it is really great. Everybody seems to be really liking it,” Sienna said, shortly before their set.

Ella said they were lucky to perform alongside the other big names.

“It’s an awesome line-up. The best thing about this festival is we were able to bring out our whole band here,” Ella said.

“We’re here to play some new music, including some unreleased tracks, and some well-known covers that everyone can sing along to…we’ve got ‘Need You Now’ by Lady A, some bluesier (covers) and a song by The Chicks.”

Stratford’s own Mick Harrington spoke to the Gippsland Times immediately after his set.

“It’s good to come out to play for people coming out post-Covid… and to see smiling faces at events in Gippsland,” Mr Harrington said.

“I’m not the most country artist at this festival, but I think the crowd really got into it. I played a mixture of covers and originals.

“The good thing about every country music festival I’ve been to is that the artists are very down to earth, and just want to have fun.”

Mr Harrington said he appreciated the opportunity to play a local show.

“I’ve got children, so it’s good to be able to play a gig and then get home to your family that night. I love being able to play music for people but also being home with your kids is good too,” he said.

Mr Harrington said he had new music out in late December, and a tour planned for next year.

“I’m taking a tour on the road next year called Australian Songbook, where I cover Australian songwriters from the ’50s until now.”

Country music singer Amber Lawrence. Photo: Stefan Bradley

Amber Lawrence was ready for a very important week in her music career, with her festival appearance and the ARIA Music Awards.

“I haven’t played down in Gippsland for so long. I’m lucky to be able to do these events,” Ms Lawrence said.

Ms Lawrence’s latest album Living for the Highlights was released in July and was nominated for Best Country Music Album at the ARIAs. It’s her second ARIA nomination, but she wasn’t feeling too confident about taking out the gong.

“Who knows? I’m not expecting to win, no. But I’m there, I’m nominated and I’m happy about that.”

Adam Brand headlined the festival.

Casey Barnes, who also performed at the festival, ended up winning the Best Country Music Album ARIA last Thursday for his record Light It Up. Festival headliner Adam Brand was also nominated in that category.

P-pop girl group Blvck Ace offers novelty music

Blvck Ace

For the newly launched P-pop band Blvck Ace, the goal is to promote Tagalog songs and introduce novelty music to the young audience.

Composed of Rhen, Jea, Ely, Twinkle and Anasity, the five member group—whose ages range from 18 to 19—officially debuted this month with the catchy dance single, “Pasahero.”

“I think it’s one thing that makes us different. We want to make sure that whenever we step onstage, it’s our own music that we perform. We want to do songs in our language. Should we get the opportunity to perform internationally, we hope to make the people vibe to Tagalog songs,” member Anasity said at a recent press conference.

“Hindi po ‘yung tayo lagi ang mag-a-adjust na English ang kakantahin,” she added.

Produced by Blvck Music—the music arm of the rookie girl group’s management agency Blvck Entertainment—“Pasahero” is a novelty bop dedicated to our local transport drivers. The “driver” in the song is also a metaphor for an ever-reliable friend who takes on people in need, the “pasahero,” as they go on their journeys in life.

“We’re happy that the group, at our age, is exploring novelty music. We love it… We hope [young people] can appreciate novelty music because it’s nice,” Ely said.

“Doing novelty music will also help us reach different audiences—from children, teenagers to older adults,” said Twinkle, who feels flattered that some members of the show biz press found Blvck Ace’s combination of dance and novelty music reminiscent of the SexBomb Girls. “We’re happy… and they’re someone we can be inspired by.”

The group has also released a Christmas song titled, “Pasko Na Naman,” which, the girls say, showcases their versatility. “In the song ‘Pasahero,’ we did some belting; our Christmas song has us rapping,” Ely said.

Personality development

Blvck Ace was formed through a series of auditions. After which, the five chosen members—who had already honed their skills individually through talent competitions—underwent further intensive training in singing, acting and dancing.

They also take personality development workshops to help them navigate the industry. And that includes dealing with bashers—par for the course in the age of social media.

“There will be people who won’t like our music. But we look forward to seeing those who will appreciate us, or make us happy. I think it can be good that there are bashers, in a way, because sometimes they’re even more updated than the actual fans. We don’t plan to engage them,” Ely said. “I think they can motivate us to do our job even better.”

All equal

Unlike the usual P-pop band setup, wherein members have specific designations, Blvck Ace has none. “There are no roles… Our management wants us to be all equal. We can sing, dance and act. And we continue to hone these skills. As a group, we want to show our versatility as performers,” Ely said. “Discipline is also important.”

Their performances and music are also designed to give each girl an opportunity to shine. “Wala pong sapawan—no one pulls ahead or gets left behind,” Jea said.

“We help each other. If we see someone is having a tough time, we teach each other. We look after each other; no one aspires to have a higher standing,” Twinkle said.

Love life isn’t on the band’s list of priorities at the moment. “We have to focus on our goals as artists. Our focus is to train which is not easy,” Ely said. “We have our own dreams, but God led us to something where our hearts feel happy. We’re very thankful to our team and families who help us reach our goals.” INQ

Iamyungtip – Locked Out: Future-Ready RnB Hip Hop – Independent Music – New Music

Looking back on a scar-littered relationship, Iamyungtip’s latest single, Locked Out, is a remorseful retrospective account of a chapter of history where the lows pitted out the highs, but the affection is unwaning.

The mature slice of future-ready RnB hip hop is a testament to the Youngstown, Ohio-based artist’s songwriting skills that he has been working on since he was eight years old when he wrote poetry for his crushes. In adulthood, he’s lost none of the diehard romanticism and picked up plenty of sonic skills to evolve his expression from the page to the airwaves.

The melodic hooks, the way his cleverly effect-laden harmonised vocals lock in with the sweepingly arrestive melodies and the way he always brings you into the heart of his music makes him a triple threat and a playlist staple worthy artist for anyone who appreciates a hip hop icon unafraid to show his emotion.

Locked Out is now available to stream on Spotify,
