NALLA is liberatingly demure in her orchestrally originated alt RnB Single, Sidechick – Independent Music – New Music

There are few things in this life as bitter-sweet as concluding that you’re a sidepiece for someone you have fallen wholeheartedly for, which NALLA demurely explores in her latest single, Sidechick.

The smoky R&B single pays homage to the roots of the genre while replanting them through a fresh futuristic vision that resounds through the distorted vocals in the intro and the glitchy rhythm of the beats that allow the sensually convictive single to veer into the trip-hop arena.

If any single is going to compel you to stand by your convictions and muster enough self-esteem to walk away from an unworthy lothario who probably needs to spend thousands in therapy before he works through his inability to commit, it’s this orchestrally scored masterpiece.

Sidechick is now available to stream via Spotify.

03 Greedo Drops ‘Free 03’ Mixtape

Great news for fans of 03 Greedo.

The rapper, née Thomas Havins, is scheduled to be released from prison in the coming days, having been granted parole after serving more than four years of a 20-year prison sentence for drug and firearm charges.

In 2018, Greedo plead guilty to the charges from a 2016 traffic stop in Texas, during which police found methamphetamine and two firearms in the vehicle he was traveling in. The rapper was initially facing up to 300 years, and got hit with the twenty instead. However, his codefendant Justin Scott received probation for the same charges after arguing that police discovered the contraband during an illegal stop and search. Greedo’s current attorney, Morris Overstreet, accused the rapper’s previous lawyers of their inability to conduct a proper defense against the alleged charges, which he felt ultimately led to Greedo taking a plea out of fear of being convicted and hit with the full 300-year sentence.

So, as a means to kinda-sorta get his fans prepared for his impending release, Greedo has dropped his Free 03 mixtape. Produced in its entirety by Mike Free, the 14-track project features the likes of the late Drakeo the Ruler, KenTheMan, and OhGeesy.

Ben Gibbard believes new Postal Service music “would be a disappointment”

The Postal Service‘s Ben Gibbard says he believes that new music from the beloved side-project “would be a disappointment”.

  • READ MORE: Death Cab For Cutie on their new album ‘Asphalt Meadows’: “This feels like a new band”

Later this year, the band – Gibbard, Jimmy Tamborello and Jenny Lewis – will head out on a co-headlining US tour with Gibbard’s other band, Death Cab For Cutie, celebrating 20 years of their albums ‘Give Up’ and ‘Transatlanticism’.

Speaking on the Kyle Meredith With… podcast, Gibbard said he believes that any new music from the band would be “drastically different” from their sole 2003 album and may not live up to expectation.

He said: “Anybody who’s been asking a second Postal Service record, like really ask yourself, after 20 years, do you really think that there’s gonna something we could make that could even satisfy half of the desire you have in your mind as to what this record would be like?

“Twenty years — a lot of technology has changed. A lot of how we make music has changed dramatically since then. It wouldn’t be the same.”

He added: “I think often, when we think about the music that we love the most and the eras of a certain artist or a band that we love the most, we’re as much thinking about the sound.

“It’s not just the songs or how you were driving around in high school listening to it, wishing you could be anywhere other than the town that you’re living in — it’s the sound of it. Whatever we would make now would sound dramatically different than what we made 20 years ago, and I think it would be a disappointment even if we tried.”

In 2021, Gibbard also downplayed the chances of The Postal Service reuniting to make any more new music together.

“I love Jimmy and Jenny so much, but the dream or idea of doing more music kind of died when we attempted to make the second record in 2004 and 2005,” he told NME at the time.

“I was writing for [Postal Service debut] ‘Give Up’ and [Death Cab’s] ‘Transatlanticism’ at the same time in 2001 and 2002. The Postal Service obviously didn’t exist at that point, but Death Cab wasn’t touring a lot – we were still very self-contained as just four of us in a van with a merch person. The workload and expectations weren’t anything like what they became later so I had so much free time to have these things going at the same time.”

Paraguayan Southern Rock troubadour Sunburned River is beguilingly defiant in his cinematic single, Go On – Independent Music – New Music

Paraguayan Southern Rock troubadour Sunburned River closed 2022 with the release of his heart-wrenchingly defiant single, Go On.

Starting with choral 70s folk-rock tones, the disarming single seamlessly builds around orchestrally cinematic and baroque motifs, complementing the rugged acoustic guitar timbres and the low ethereal hum of his evocative vocal timbre. If that wasn’t enough sonic beguile, the singer-songwriter orchestrated an electric guitar riff solo for the ages.

Regardless of who you revere as a guitar hero, Sunburned River’s talent while ripping through the soaring lead guitar work is breath-takingly superlative. The only thing on par with his instrumental ability is his captivatingly immersive songwriting skills.

The official video for Go On is now available to stream on YouTube.

Metro Boomin Shares Vaulted “Gang Sh*t” Track With 21 Savage, Project Pat

So, this is rather interesting.

Although he recently topped the charts with his Heroes & Villains album, Metro Boomin continues to gift fans with music. The producer shared the original version of his Certified Lover Boy cut “Knife Talk,” originally titled “Gang Sh*t.” This version is actually Drake-less, with an extended introductory verse from Project Pat and an extra verse from 21 Savage.

“I sent [Drake] that song, like, two days before [CLB] came out,” 21 said in a recent interview. “Swear to god. A day before the album came out, he did his verse … I had that song. That song was supposed to go on Savage Mode II … I’m glad it went the way it went, ’cause I feel like it woulda just been another song on Savage Mode II.”

Minot teacher shares gift of music on TikTok

MINOT, N.D (KMOT) – “The Weekend Song” is one of many tunes that Risha Allen wrote to serve as a creative outlet for her students.

“She’s a great singer and her favorite shop is the boot barn,” said Alissa Drain, a third grader.

Risha started writing music in fourth grade.

“I haven’t written any yet, but I’m thinking of doing some,” said Logan Russell, a third grader.

The second-year music teacher said as a child she felt a ton of frustration while she was learned how to play the piano. She said she had great teachers, but it took a while to click. Now, she’s taking the opportunity to teach music the way she would’ve wanted.

“It’s alright if you don’t get it. We’ll back up and learn it again. We’ll learn this five or six different ways,” said Allen.

And she posts some of it on TikTok.

Recording bite-sized teaching hacks and classroom passion started small at first, allowing friends and family to see videos.

Now she has more than 200,000 followers on TikTok. A Roosevelt Elementary fifth grader said he was surprised.

“I didn’t think she was going to be this famous, you know what I mean?” said Aiden Laducer, a fifth grader.

Risha said her followers largely consists of teachers, parents, principals, and students.

One of her students said Ms. Allen composes songs based on ideas from all her classes.

“She’s made kitchen utensil songs, rare fruit songs, a frosty frogs songs,” said Juliauna Zahn-Guess, a fifth grader.

Risha said she’s glad she made the decision to switch to music after teaching English for 13 years prior.

“I love teaching English it was a great career too, but this, this is a dream career for me,” said Allen

Risha continues to make her own songs and will soon release another single.
